The Temple of Successive Emperors

The Temple of Successive Emperors (lì dài dì wáng miào 历代帝王庙) is a national AA tourist attraction, the only imperial temple in the Ming and Qing dynasties (míng qīng liǎng dài 明清两代) for worshiping the Three Sovereigns and the Five Emperors (sān huáng wǔ dì 三皇五帝), distinguished emperors, ministers, and generals of Chinese in successive dynasties and a key historic site under national protection. It lies at No. 131 Fuchengmen Inner Street (fù chéng mén nèi dà jiē 阜成门内大街), Xicheng District (xī chéng qū 西城区). With grand and well-preserved buildings, it is a well-known place of historical and cultural tourism.

Imagine a cool valley with a cluster of blue pools strung together like a necklace of diamonds. At the end of the valley, a spring behind the highest pool bubbles continuously to create a resonance that is refreshing and relaxing. This peaceful place is Black Dragon Pool (hēi lóng tán 黑龙潭), located in a 220-meter high, 4-kilometer long valley, which is in the northwestern Lupiguan (lù pí guān 鹿皮关) of the Shicheng Town (shí chéng xiāng 石城乡) in Miyun (mì yún 密云), 100 kilometers away from Beijing. The valley is commonly called Gulu Valley (gū lù yù
轱辘峪), because of its steepness. There are three waterfalls and eighteen pools in the valley. It is always appraised as being fresh, astonishing and steep.

The Shilinxia Scenic Area (shí lín xiá 石林峡)(the Gorge of Stone Forest), 20 kilometers northeast of Pinggu (píng gǔ 平谷) and with an area of 12 square kilometers, is the core attraction of Huangsongyu Geopark (huáng sōng yù dì zhì gōng yuán 黄松峪地质公园). It is characterized by five unique views, namely, rocks, gorges, water, mountain and forest. Both the grandeur typically found in the scenery of north China and the grace of the scenery in the south can find their best expressions here.

Jingdong Canyon

 (jīng dōng dà xiá 京东大峡谷), located north of Yuzishan Village (yú zǐ shān 鱼子山), Pinggu District (píng qū 平谷区), some 85 km (53 miles) east of downtown Beijing (běi jīng 北京), features several historical sights, a beautiful hike through apricot and pine trees as well as a small water park. Since its opening in 1992, many visitors have flocked to the area and it is a well-known scenic area in Beijing and Tianjin (tiān jīn 天津). The canyon, Also called Wulongtan (wǔ lóng tán 五龙潭)("Deep Pool of Five Dragons") Grand Canyon, measures 6 square kilometers which bounds with fantastic caves, deep ponds, bizarre peaks and running waterfalls.
