Puzhehei - a Place of Abundance

Puzhehei (pǔ zhě hēi 普者黑) National Tourist Resort is located in Qiubei County (qiū běi xiàn 丘北县), Wenshan (wén shān 文山) in Southeast Yunnan, 280 km from Kunming (kūn míng 昆明). It takes on Karst geological features and covers a total area of 165 square kilometers. It was noted for the world- rare and domestic- unique karst landscape and pastoral scenery since 1993.

At the southern feet of the precipitous Ailao Mountain (āi láo shān 哀牢山), there extends a vast stretch of beautiful richly endowed and mystical land. It is the Honghe Autonomous Prefecture of Hani an Yi Nationalities (hóng hé hā ní zú yí zú zì zhì zhōu 红河哈尼族彝族自治州), which like a piece of green precious stone inlaid at the southernmost end of China.

Ailao Mountain

Ailao Mountain (āi láo shān 哀牢山) is a branch of Mount Yun (yún lǐng 云岭). It is formed during the Quaternary Himalaya Mountain Building Period (zhōng shēng dài yàn shān yùn dòng shí qī 中生代燕山运动时期). When the ground rises, and the river sinks, the disparity in height becomes prominent. This is how the deep cut topographic feature forms today. The Ailao Mountain leans from northwest to the southeast from inner Sajiang River. On the west side of the river, the Ailao Mountain and Sajiang River are in parallel. Here mountain and river are intertwined.

Dongchuan Red Lands

Dongchuan (dōng chuān 东川), located in the southeast side with more than 40km away from Kunming City (kūn míng 昆明), is a district under the jurisdiction of Kunming Prefecture, Yunnan Province. It is a rural area in the northeast of Kunming and is believed to hold the world's most imposing red earth, even more magnificent than that in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It is the most massive red land with typical features of Yunnan plateau. With gorgeous and colorful hues, the red land is praised as a palette on earth, and is more and more favored by backpackers, hikers and photographers. It is seldom visited by general tourists for its remoteness and inadequate lodging facilities. However, the land with picturesque scenery is paradise for photography fans.

Xingyun Lake

Xingyun Lake (Xīng yún Hú 星云湖) also known as Jiangchuan Sea (Jiāng chuān Hǎi zi 江川海子), is a plateau lake in Yunnan Province, southwest of China. It is laceted in Jiangchuan County (jiāng chuān xiàn 江川县). The Xingyun Lake and the Fuxian Lake (fǔ xiān hú 抚仙湖) are separated by a mountain and linked by Haimen River (hǎi mén hé 海门河). The glistening light of the waves is charming and attractive. During the cloudless night, the bright moonlight shines upon the lake, looking like numerous stars glinting and falling into the lake. It also looks as brilliant as the cloud. So the lake get its name Xingyun Lake (literally Star-Cloud Lake).
