Xianghai National Nature Reserve (xiàng hǎi guó jiā zì rán bǎo hù qū 向海国家自然保护区) is now a national forest and wild animal nature reserve, it is an A-class wetland in the world, and a reservation to which the United Nations attaches great importance. It is a paradise of birds. The nature reserve extends 100,000 hectares on the edge of the Songliao (sōng liáo 松辽) Plain and in Tongyu (tōng yú 通榆) County in eastern Horqin (kē ěr qìn 科尔沁) Grassland Tongyu County, and 39 percent of its area is covered with marshland, water, reeds, or a second growth of the virgin forests. The Nature Reserve is the natural habitat for 293 kinds of precious birds, including six breeds of cranes. The idyllic prairie and the local Mongol folklore combine to make this bird watching place a very fascinating place.

Baicheng (bái chéng 白城) City, with the advantaged geographic location, convenient transportation and telecommunication and abundant natural resources, enjoys a long-standing history. Located in the juncture of three provinces of Jilin, Heilongjiang and Inner Mongolia, it is the only way to enter into Shanhaiguan (sān hǎi guān 三海关) from the southwest of Heilongjiang and northeast of Inner Mongolia. Not only a historical regional commercial distributing, economic and communication center, it is also one of main hub city of the forth Eurasia Land bridge designed by United Nations Development Programmed (UNDP). The railway is open to big cities such as Beijing, Changchun, Jilin, Shenyang, and Dalian.

Koguryo Cultural Relics Scenic Area (gāo gōu lì wén wù gǔ jì jǐng qū 高句丽文物古迹景区) is located in the southeast part of Jilin Province, Ji'an (jí ān 集安) City is a key port to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea which is on the other side of Yalu River. With the coverage of 3,217 sq. km. and a population of 236,000, Ji'an has 18 nationalities, 88.4% of which are Han, and 7.5% are Korean. The Capital Cities and Tombs of the Ancient Koguryo Kingdom are distributed in the area of Ji'an city, Jilin Province, and there is an inner city, a hill city and 14 imperial tombs and 16 other tombs in which the nobles were buried. And the Koguryo Cultural Relics Scenic Area was set up in 1983 which is reached 857679 square meters.

Dragon (Chinese Dragon) Bay National Forest Park (lóng wān qún guó jiā sēn lín gōng yuá 龙湾群国家森林公园) occupies an area of 6780 hectares, among which 227 hectares are covered by water, and the rest are of 1095 hectares. Locating in Longgang (lóng gǎng 龙岗) range in the western part of Changbai (cháng bái 长白) Mountain, Longwan (lóng wān 龙湾) Crater Lake group is China's biggest Crater Lake group. These alpine lakes are formed in volcanic eruption in ancient geological age. The average water depth is around 50 meters and the deepest point can reach 100 meters. The 164 crater lakes and crater in Huinan (huī nán 辉南) Longgang range are well preserved and have their unique geological features and spectacular scenery which make the lakes unparallel in China. Volcanic landforms bestow unique charming to Longwanqun National Forest Park.

Known as the City of Hill in the northern China, Tonghua (tōng huà 通化) is located in the southeastern part of Jilin Province. It meets Baishan (běi shān 北山) City in the east; adjoins Liaoning Province in the west, connects Jilin City and Liaoyuan City in the north, overlooks Democratic People's Republic of Korea with river between them in the south. It is one of the three ports open to North Korea. Covering an area of 15,600 square kilometers and a population of slightly more than 2.3million, Tonghua currently has jurisdiction over two cities at county level - Meihekou (méi hé kǒu 梅河口) City, Ji'an (jí ān 集安) City, three counties-Liuhe (liǔ hé 柳河) County, Huinan (huī nán 辉南) County, Tonghua County, and two districts directly under the municipality-Dongchang (dōng chāng 东昌) District, Erdaojiang (èr dào jiāng 二道江) District. What's more, Tonghua is an open border city upon approval of the central government.
