Lingyin Temple (líng yǐn sì 灵隐寺), or "Soul's Retreat Temple", is one of the best-known Buddhist monasteries in China, built in 326 AD at the foot of Lingyin Mountain (líng yǐn shān 灵隐山) in Hangzhou (háng zhōu 杭州), the capital of Eastern China's Zhejiang Province (zhè jiāng shěng 浙江省). The main hall in Lingyin Temple is about 34 meters (111ft) tall - incredibly high for an one-story building. In the center of the hall there is a statue of Sakyamuni Buddha, which was carved from 24 pieces of camphor wood. The two stone pagodas in front of the hall were built in 960 during the Song Dynasty (960-1271) (sòng cháo 宋朝).

The Ancient Town of Wuzhen

On both sides of a slabstone-paved street stand pubs, restaurants, pawnshops, weaving and dyeing establishments, and other businesses, all housed in wooden structures of brown. Rivers and creeks spanned with stone bridges in various designs flow through the town, and the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal passes by. Old waterside houses and outside corridors can be found here and there. This is the ancient town of Wuzhen.

altQiandao Lake (qiān dǎo hú 千岛湖), or Qiandaohu, is a giant lake with literally 1000 small islands. Many of these islands are developed for tourism. The water is so clean that a major mineral water processing plant is located there.

Qiandao Lake, located in Chun'an County (chún'ān xiàn 淳安县), west of Hangzhou (háng zhōu 杭州), Zhejiang Province (zhè jiāng shěng 浙江省) is one of the first-class national scenic spots and is the largest national forest park at present. The lake covers five hundred and seventy square kilometers including over one thousand islands of different sizes. Besides the surrounding green hills and large amount of animals and plants, it is also famous for its water. The average depth of the water here is more than one hundred feet and the visibility in the water is twenty two to twenty nine feet. As national first-class water it is so pure that it can be drunk directly.
