![]() When: Ends Jan 31st, daily Where: Platform China Art Institute.(319-1, East End Art Zone A, Caochangdi. Opposite Guanghantang Antique Furniture) With two large gallery spaces in Caochangdi and a small experimental space in 798, Platform China exhibits a range of cutting-edge artists from in and out of China. Director Sun Ning has established an impressive curatorial program that emphasizes video and new media work as much as it does painting. This exhibition of works by the Berlin-based artist includes his “Doors” installation and tattoo paintings, as well as a number of watercolor works. Willeke is best known for his cinematic paintings, which depict imagery from horror films and popular culture, but his 2007 tattoo series adapts Willeke’s gritty style to explore the language of heavy metal tattoos and their place in contemporary culture. There will be an opening reception Sunday, Dec. 16 at 2pm.
