Wanjuan Pavilion
(wàn juàn lóu 万卷楼) is located in the Xishan Scenic Area (xī shān fēng jǐng qū 西山风景区) in Nanchong City (nán chōng shì 南充市) of Sichuan Province (sì chuān shěng 四川省). It was originally constructed in the reign of Jianxing (jiàn xīng nián jiān 建兴年间) of Three Kingdoms Period (sān guó shí qī 三国时期). It is the place where Chen Shou (chén shòu 陈寿), the famous historian in the Western Jin Dynasty (xī jìn 西晋) and the writer of the Records of Three Kingdoms (sān guó zhì 三国志), studying in his youth age. The pavilion is built leaning on the rock behind, made of wood and stones. With the flying eaves and arched roof, the pavilion is imposing and grand.

Wanjuan PavilionThe pavilion was ruined in the 1960s because it is without repair for a long time. The Wanjuan Pavilion at present is the one reconstructed in 1990. It consists of Reading Pavilion (dú shū lóu 读书楼), Memorial Hall of Chen Shou (chén shòu jì niàn guǎn 陈寿纪念馆) and Library (cáng shū lóu 藏书楼). Every pavilion exhibits the lifetime of Chen Shou, Records of Three Kingdoms and its influence, and the treasure of the Three Kingdoms. The pavilions are with high flat and cloister. Pillars are painted red and the pavilion is covered with black piles.

On the roof of Wanjuan Pavilion, there is a huge tablet hanging on the center, on which there written three gold Chinese characters “万卷楼". In the center of the courtyard, there is a bronze statue of Chen Shou, which is 5 meters high and 1 tons weight. The pictures on the wall are painted according to the history. All the exhibits in the memorial hall are with great value for the research of the culture of Three Kingdoms Period.

Transportation: you can take tourist bus No. 16 and get off at Chenshoulu Stop (chén shòu lù 陈寿路)
