Tianhe Pool Scenic Area (tiān hé tán fēng jǐng qū 天河潭风景区) is located in Shiban Town (shí bǎn zhèn 石板镇), Guiyang City (guì yáng shì 贵阳市) of Guizhou Province (guì zhōu shěng 贵州省). It joins the greatness of Huangguoshu Waterfalls (huáng guǒ shù pù bù 黄果树瀑布) and the beauty of the Huaxi (huā xī 花溪) together. Tianhe Pool is a typical naturally sunken pit of calcified rocks. The water wheel, the farmhouse, the bridge and the flowing water, make the pool much more delightful.

  
Tianhe Pool was originally a large crypt, and the pool formed as water accumulated at the bottom. It occupies an area of 15 square kilometers. The scenic area is an outstanding tourist destination, full of beautiful natural scenery and cultural displays.

Step into the scenic area, there is a naturally formed stone bridge in spanning two mountains. Go through the bridge arch, the water in the river is like falling down from the sky, and formed a deep pool. Hence the name Tianhe Pool means the water in the pool is coming from the sky.

There is a Calcified Shoal Waterfall (gài huà tān pù bù 钙化滩瀑布) presenting itself in front of you. It is 210 meters wide, which is crowned as the widest in the world. The lower part of the waterfall is called Xiaobagou River (xiāng bā gōu 香粑沟). The plunging water flows indirectly or surges ahead. During the rainy season, the waterfall is like an uncontrollable horse, colliding into the pool. In the dry season, the waterfall is like a white silk. Breeze can blow it into fine spray. Joined with the calcified shoal, the Wolong Lake (wò lóng hú 卧龙湖) is clear and clean, the Baibu Stone Bridge (bǎi bù shí qiáo 百步石桥) and the pink peach blossoms and the green willow makes the lake like a heaven of peace and happiness.

On the top of the mountain, there is a steel cable bridge. Standing there, you can have a bird’s view of the whole scenic area as well as the feeling of flying. The Longtan Cave (lóng tán dòng 龙潭洞) in the scenic area is made up of two caves, namely the water cave and the dry cave. The total length of the cave is more than 1000 meters. Its widest part is up to 80 meters while the narrowest part is only 20 meters. There is an underground river in the cave, which is 21 meters deep. A naturally formed stone bridge----Naihe Bridge (nài hé qiáo 奈何桥) is spanning two cliffs in the cave, under which there is an immeasurable pool. The cave is full of stalactites, which are in various shapes.

In Tianhe Pool Scenic Area, the water joins with the mountain; there are caves in the water, and pools in the cave. Besides the natural beauty of lakes and mountains, you can also appreciate the rich cultural connotation of the scenic spot. You can visit the common farmhouse and appreciate the embroidery made by the young girls of Miao Ethnic Group. All of these will make you relax.
