China BevTek 2008, The international beverage and liquid technology & material exhibition ended last Friday at Shanghai New International Expo Centre ( SNIEC), Pudong. The exhibition from 9-11 July 2008, was the first specialist event in Shanghai for brewing, beverage and general liquid technology manufacturers specifically targeting the East China and international export markets. The exhibition attracted a total of 13,880 trade buyers from 78 countries. Visitors from China made up the majority of attendees, while 14% or 1,948 came from overseas. Praise received from exhibitors and visitors to this first show, confirms a place in their corporate marketing plans for this expo when it returns to Shanghai in July 2009.

altParticipating companies at China BevTek came from China, Germany, Italy, Korea, Taiwan Region, UK and USA displayed liquid processing and packaging technology for industries producing beer, beverage, dairy products, sauces, liquid foods, oils and industrial liquids. Exhibitors praised the quality of buyers they met from China and overseas Mr. Michael Cui, Sales Manager from Tuchenhagen Flow Components, Germany commented: “I am very happy we attended this first China BevTek in Shanghai. We have met many buyers and customers and really look forward to joining the show when it returns next year.” While Mr. Shao XianAn General Manager from Yuan An Liquid Technology Co, China added: “Best show in China for the liquid packaging industry. We have already booked our stand for next year and look forward to being a long-term partner of China BevTek.”

The organizers of China BevTek, China International Exhibitions Ltd, expressed confidence to double the space occupied next year. “The majority of exhibitors this year have already reserved their stands for 2009 and many new ones are asking for allocations” commented Vicky Leung, Assistant Project Director for China BevTek.

altA particular highlight of China BevTek 2008 was the Annual General Meeting of the China National Food Industry Association (CNFIA), Brewing Industry Committee. The AGM provided a central focus for the entire event by attracting over 170 delegates from leading brewers including Snow Beer, Chongqing Beer, Fujian Yanjing Huiquan Beer, Tsing Tao, InBev, Mautai Beer, Beijing Yanjing Beer Group amongst others.

The meeting included papers on trends in the Chinese beer market and the technology element of the AGM saw papers presented by Krones and Nanjing Light Industry Machinery Co. Commenting on the response to the AGM, Mr. Du Fu Tai, Secretary General of the Brewing Committee said “ we are delighted by the turn out of so many senior managers from China’s top brewers to this first AGM to be held in Shanghai. The papers presented were excellent and the exhibition offered delegates the opportunity to network with many colleagues and then view some of the technology in the exhibition hall. We are very please by results this year and I can confirm our intention to bring back the Brewing Committee’s AGM to be alongside China BevTek 2009 in Shanghai”.

altDelegates to the conference reinforced the advantages of holding the AGM with China BevTek, as commented by Tony Wang, Administrative Vice President LeHui “The AGM of the China food Industry Association Brewing Committee helped attract many brewers to our exhibition stand. We are pleased to learn that this meeting will again take place at China BevTek 2009 where we plan to have a larger stand, showing even more equipment.”

With a focus on the beverage sector, the Shanghai Beverage Association also held a conference alongside China BevTek including papers on the hot topic of quality and safety in beverage production. Other papers reviewed the structure of the China beverage market and opportunities in the emerging consumer market of East China. The conference attracted a capacity audience with industry leaders in attendance from Coca Cola, Pepsi, Wahaha, Want Want, Yimin Foods Group and Mailing Aquarius amongst others.

altaltMr. Yan Long , Senior Consultant of China Light Industry Association summarized the conferences and expo when he said : “ Previously, there has not been a complete and professional platform to showcase brew and beverage technology industry in East China. However, China BevTek brings fresh blood to boost this industry, which is developing rapidly across all China but particularly in the East China region. Finally, I hope the 2nd China BevTek in 2009, will be more successful and outstanding.”

altProPak China 2008 ends on a high

SHANGHAI – 14 July 2008 — ProPak China 2008, the 14th international Processing, Packaging and End-line Printing Exhibition ended last Friday on a high note. Over 500 companies from 21 nations and regions displayed latest technology solutions for the processing and packaging of all manufactured products including dairy, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, food, beer, beverages, FMCG and industrial products. The exhibition attracted more visitors than at last year’s show, with a total of 13,880 trade buyers attending from 78 countries. Visitors from China made up the majority of attendees, while 14% or 1,948 came from overseas.

ProPak China 2008 broke all previous records increasing the total area of the show to 28,900 sqm. Once again ProPak received the exclusive support in China of international / regional pavilions from the German Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Association (VDMA): the largest foreign pavilion at the show, Japan Packaging Institute (JPI), Japan Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Association (JPMMA), Korea Trade Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), Korea Packaging Machinery Association (KPMA), Taiwan Association of Machinery Manufacturers (TAMI), the UK’s Processing & Packaging Machinery Association (PPMA), Food Processing Suppliers Association (FPSA) from USA and Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute (PMMI) representing Canadian and USA companies. Recognising the importance of this trade altfair all these national and regional pavilions have again confirmed to support ProPak China 2009.
