Organizers of the 14th International Exhibition on Textile Industry (ShanghaiTex 2009) are expecting more than 1,500 exhibitors to fill more than 100,000 square meters in 9 halls at the altShanghai New International Expo Centre in Shanghai's Pudong district June 12-15, 2009. The biennial show, inaugurated in 1984, will be celebrating its 25th anniversary during this year's event.

Organizers also are expecting more than 120,000 visitors from China and more than 40 other countries and regions - topping the 2007 edition's attendance of 108,204 visitors from 42 countries and regions.

Exhibitors' displays of textile technologies and services will be organized in six zones: Knitting & Hosiery Machinery; Printing, Dyeing & Finishing Machinery; Textile Chemicals; Spinning, Nonwoven & Techtextile Machinery; Weaving Machinery; and Spare Parts & Accessories.

altChina has not been immune to the economic upheaval taking place throughout the world, and its government has responded by introducing new tax incentives that are expected to help bolster its textile industry, which has had to deal with growing costs for labor as well as raw materials, and also has had to face competition from lower-cost countries. Benefits to the industry extend as well to textile machinery manufacturers, which can expect to increase their sales of machinery and equipment to Chinese textile and apparel manufacturers as a result.

ShanghaiTex 2009 organizers include Shanghai International Exhibition Co. Ltd., Shanghai Textile Technology Service & Exhibition Center and Hong Kong-based Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd. The International Exhibition on Textile Industry (ShanghaiTex) is the oldest textile industry exhibition in China – and a unique national brand. Starting in 1984, ShanghaiTex has been held biennially in odd-numbered years. Over the past 25 years, the exhibition has provided a professional trading platform for cutting-edge textile machinery and the textile industry as a whole. A key marketplace, the 14th ShanghaiTex – now celebrating its silver jubilee, will provide a platform for showcasing state-of-the-art textile machinery and a wide-array of related accessories in 2009. Riding on a Time for Textile Machinery Renovation!

With tremendous growth of textile industry in altChina through the past decades, "Textile Factory of the World" is a title directly revealing China's state of play. Nevertheless, the increasing cost of raw material and labor force is cooling down the development. After 8 years of rapid growth, Chinese product can no longer rely on low selling price in the competition, in order words; the era of high quality production with modern technology arrives.

On the other hand, as a developing apparels consumption market, Chinese manufacturers are not only concerned about product export, but also domestic selling, which also contributes a lot to the blooming of machinery demand.

The most expected event, The 13th International Exhibition on Textile Industry (SHANGHAITEX 2007) closed with great success at Shanghai New International Expo Centre, Pudong, Shanghai on June 4, 2007.

altOver 1,400 exhibitors coming globally from 20 countries & regions and 23 Chinese provinces & cities have joined the exhibition. The show has hit its largest ever scale this year. 9 exhibition halls and 3 temporary halls were fully occupied. Exhibition area reached 120,000sqm, increased by 20% as comparing with 2005. The show made a breakthrough by grouping exhibitors according to product categories, differentiating the show of its kind which are sorted by countries. Knitting, printing & finishing equipments were the focus of the exhibition, while energy saving and environmental friendly machineries & technologies have been the highlights of the show.

SHANGHAITEX 2007, being a major textile event, was highly recognized by Chinese government & textile associations. Mr. Hu Yan Zhao, the deputy mayor of Shanghai, Mr. Wang Tian Kai, the vice president of China Textile Industry Association, Mr. Gao Yong, the vice president of China Textile Industry Association and the director-general of China Textile Machinery & Equipment Industry Association, and leaders and representatives of nationwide textile associations have visited the exhibition.

The 4-day event has recorded 108,204 visitors flow from 42 countries and regions. Among, 3,308 are professional visitors coming globally, including Bangladesh, Germany, India, Iran, Italy, Japan, Korea, Pakistan, Thailand, Turkey, United States, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, etc.
