Jiankou Great Wall (jiàn kòu cháng chéng 箭扣长城) is located to the northwest of Zhenzhuquan Village (zhēn zhū quán cūn 珍珠泉村), Bohai Town (bó hǎi zhèn 渤海镇), Huairou County (huái róu xiàn 怀柔县) of Beijing City (běi jīng shì 北京市), no more than 100 kilometers away from the urban area of Beijing. It is well known for its steepness. Jiankou Great Wall is like a huge dragon among the mountains, and has long enjoyed a good reputation among the mountain-climbing fans. It leads to the Eagle Flies Facing Upward (yīng fēi dào yǎng 鹰飞倒仰), a watch tower built on the lofty peaks. It is so dangerous that even eagles have to fly facing upward to reach the top.

Transportation:
You can take bus No. 916 from Dongzhimen (dōng zhí mén 东直门) Stop to Huairou, change another bus to Mutianyu (mù tián yù 慕田峪), get off at the Xinying (xīn yíng 辛营) Stop and then change a bus to Zhenzhuquan. You also can drive a car and it will take you about one hour and a half.

Tips:
1. It is better for you to wear caravan shoes, for the stones in Jiankou Great Wall are loose.
2. You’d better not to take a walking stick, because you have to grasp the stone to help you climb. The walking stick will be a burden.
3. Don’t destroy the trees and grasses in Jiankou Great Wall, and remember to take the wastes away.
4. It will be easier for you to climb along the north line, and you will meet more people there.
