The food industry is one of the fastest-growing sectors and, in accordance with this trend, bread, cakes, pastries and sweets also record a continuous rise in turnover figures.

This trend is more obvious at the Bakery China than anywhere else. The entire range of products and services offered by the baking and confectionery industry is represented at this

Final report Bakery China 2008

altWith an increase of 13 percent in terms of exhibitors and 12 percent more visitors, Bakery China came to an end at the Shanghai New International Expo Center on 22 May 2008. For three days, 900 companies from around the world presented their latest technologies from the baking industry at the international trade fair for baking, confectionary and packaging machines, raw baking ingredients and decoration materials. Due to the large demand, the originally planned exhibition area of four halls even had to be expanded to five and a half halls covering a total area of 64,000 m2.

The approximately 65,000 visitors expressed particular interest in the baking demonstrations held in the fair’s international section, which were organised in part by the French association ADEPTA (Association for the Development of International Exchange of Food and Agricultural Products and Techniques). In the general euphoria surrounding this year’s Olympic Games, one particular attraction was confectionary works of art in the shape of the Olympic rings and other sporting motifs. The fair was also used for collecting donations for victims of the earthquake in China.

altIn view of the continuously increasing demand for western foods and baked products in China, the event organisers are anticipating even further growth for the next Bakery China, which is due to take place from 12-14 May 2009. For this reason, an additional hall has already been rented.
