In less than two years time, The WORLD EXPO 2010 will be hosted in Shanghai; with one of the focal points being environmental protection in city public transport. The Shanghai Municipal Government will implement the policy regarding “developing and innovating the public alttransport system”. In turn this will make for a commercial opportunity for bus manufacturers to upgrade Shanghai’s transport system – ensuring for the implementation of new fuel technology and ultimately lower emissions.

During Busworld Asia 2009, those bus manufacturers who foster new fuel technology will be able to present their advanced products to both visitors and trade buyers.

During Busworld 2009 both the Asian Coach Week and the 10+10 Forum will be held - the Chinese bus and coach manufacturers will meet with European juries, road and public transport operators and international experts with the key aim of improving the global competitiveness of Chinese product originality and establishing a worldwide recognized brand image for the BAAV award winners. Furthermore, strategies will be discussed as to how to increase Chinese bus and coach exports during the 10+10 Summit Forum when 10 overseas operators and 10 altChinese manufacturers will come together for this very purpose.

At the same time the conference related to the application of new fuel technologies to the city bus transport system will take place; participants involved will include public transport operators, manufacturers, high-tech researchers and journalists. The key aim of the conference is to further develop and promote innovation within the Chinese bus industry with the purpose of elevating Chinese bus manufacturing to a higher level – both technically and competitively.

Since Busworld Asia 2009 will be held at the same time as the World Travel Fair (WTF), the expected 20,000 attendees to the WTF will flow over into Busworld – including visitors from over 60 countries and regions including commercial tour & leisure operators, and buyers. This coming year, for the first time, there will be a large number of expectant visitors who will be altvery keen to view the vehicles – displayed onsite with superior brands from home and abroad.

More than 80 representatives have already confirmed their participation in Busworld 2009 – including vehicle manufacturers and industry related accessory representatives representing globally recognized superior brands. Over 250 visitors, delegates of European operators, overseas trade delegations, domestic tourist transport companies and China’s public transport representatives communicated actively with the exhibitors. In fact, ten vehicle manufacturers received orders on site. Total revenue of internal trade and export orders broke the previous exhibition’s record with first time visitors increasing 10% over last year. What’s more, the perhaps too raucous environment of past editions was replaced by a more relaxing and informative environment wherein exhibitors introduced and explained their products to visitors with a
personalized touch. This created a pleasant atmosphere which made visitors feel like they were attending an American or European exhibition. Exhibitors such as Higer Coach set a first-rate example to all Chinese exhibitors, in addition to fostering a good national company image altto the public.

Many related activities centering on “Chinese Innovation” such as the 100th year anniversary of Shanghai Public Transport, the Asian Coach Week Awards, the 10+10 Forum and various seminars highlighted Busworld Asia 2008. Interviews, live online broadcasts, reports by many of the trade medias from home and abroad demonstrated the advances in industrial development, which attracted high interest and support from the public.

Busworld Asia 2008 has established itself as a professional and respected platform for the Chinese coach and bus manufacturers to set in motion global brand positioning as well as initiate business with overseas markets. Busworld Asia has become a “significant and influential showcase” displaying the world’s coaches and buses.
