As Asia's No.1 trade show for flooring industry, DOMOTEX asia/CHINAFLOOR will celebrate its 11th edition again in Shanghai during March 24 to 26, 2009. DOMOTEX asia/CHINAFLOOR 2009 will occupy 8.5 halls at Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC) with an expected gross showing space covering 97,750 square meters. It is forecasted that about 1,100 exhibitors from Asia and rest of the world will present their products and promote their brands in front of more than 42,000 professional visitors and buyers from all over the world.

altWith more exhibitors bringing broader range of flooring products, the layout plan of the 2009 edition is more integrated. Rational classification and sophisticated product segmentation freely guide professional visitors and buyers locate their target sellers at a glance. Textile Floor Coverings and Area Rugs will lead the west wing of SNIEC taking Hall W1-W2, and half of Hall W3; While for East wing, Resilient Flooring, arousing more and more attention from the market, will cover Hall E1. Floortech asia will again be located in Hall E2. Parquet & Laminate flooring as the largest sector of the show also the biggest in the world will occupy Halls E3-E6, further strengthening the status of DOMOTEX asia/CHINAFLOOR as the key trading portal for flooring industry based in Asia.

DOMOTEX asia/CHINAFLOOR 2008 edition again experienced extraordinary growth. It welcomed 39,509 trade visitors from China and other 103 countries and regions coming to the show, visiting 1,014 exhibitors from 40 countries covering a display space of 88,000 square meters with diversified floor covering exhibits. With over 9% more exhibitors and around 11% more visitors compared with previous edition, DOMOTEX asia/CHINAFLOOR again established itself as Asia's top leading international trade fair for floor coverings.

Economic Overview

Today, China and Asia have become the most energetic players on the world stage. Asia has some three billion inhabitants and a combined gross domestic product (GDP) of some US$14 trillion. The region is a mix of modern industrialized countries and emerging economies. Japan, Australia, and South Korea are the most developed countries in the region with mature growth outlooks. China is at the other extreme, with an economy rapidly expanding at about 10% per year over the past two decades, which has been stimulated by the consecutive increases of industrial output, consumer consumption and capital investment. China's GDP has been growing at 11% per annum. National altindustry output has been advancing at 10.3% annually and will continue to sustain a strong growth into the next decade. China's development has not only benefited its people, but also has brought about huge opportunities to the whole of Asia.

Industry Prospects

According to statistics, the world floor coverings consumption in 2006 was equal to 13.0 billion square meters. It is estimated that by 2011 this figure will be 15.5 billion square meters and the biggest market and growth potential will belong to the Asia-Pacific region which dominates the world market. Till 2011, there is an expected 5.5% compounded annual growth (CAGR) increase in this region.


altDemand for flooring in China will grow seven percent annually through 2008, driven by healthy gains in building construction activity and by government efforts to increase average per capita living space and privatize home ownership. While from the perspectives of manufacturing, it represents a US$ 13.3 billion industry.
