In a bid to move upmarket, jewellery enterprises are seeking ways to build up contacts and to establish their brand image to help them stay competitive. Compared with other cities in China, Shenzhen's jewellery firms show a greater awareness of brand building. As of 2006, 17 out of the 33 jewellery enterprises in China winning the "China Top Brand" awards are located in Shenzhen. This reflects the important role of Shenzhen as the marketing promotion platform for China's jewellery industry.
