Top of the game

All the elements of a successful trade show fit together like a jigsaw to make the HKTDC Hong Kong Toys & Games Fair one of the most outstanding in the world. Good timing, perfect location and professional organisation are just some of the factors which make it the largest in Asia and second in the world.

Its global drawing power is seen by the presence of 2,003 exhibitors in 2008, who came from 36 countries & regions. Group pavilions hosted exhibitors from the Chinese mainland, Germany, Italy, Korea, Pakistan, Spain, Taiwan and Thailand.

Playing to win

With its track record of excellence, the Hong Kong Toys & Games Fair enjoys the confidence of buyers for whom it is a premier sourcing hub. About 30,000 buyers made the journey from 130 countries & regions to fill their inventories at the 2008 fair.

The presence of buyers from markets with huge potential to grow opens up exciting new possibilities for exhibitors. In 2008, buyer numbers from Africa and the Middle East, for example, increased by 15% and 16.5% respectively.

A place for everything

Keep your toys tidy is a maxim we all remember. At the Hong Kong Toys & Games Fair 2009, all the toys are in the right zones for buyers to find them easily. Over the years the fair has evolved with the industry to create product zones according to market demand. In 2009 these zones are: Baby Toys & Products, Candy Toys, Hobby Goods, Magic Items, Outdoor & Sporting Items and Paper Products & Toy Packaging.

Committed to IPR

HKTDC has a firm commitment to safeguarding the intellectual property rights of exhibitors. A legal advisor is present at the fairground to investigate infringement complaints and procedures are in place to deal with IPR issues as they arise.

Quality, safe products

The Hong Kong Toys & Games Fair is known for the quality of its exhibitors and exhibits. It takes up this market position in response to buyers' expressed priorities, which place a higher importance on good quality, safe products than cheap prices.

Bonus buys

Running concurrently is the Hong Kong International Stationery Fair, which dovetails neatly with the toy industry, offering benefits to participants in both fairs. With 269 exhibitors from 15 countries & regions in 2008, the fair is a valuable adjunct.

Eventful programme

Another factor which lifts the Hong Kong Toys & Games Fair to a superior level is its programme of events. Whether these are seminars by expert speakers or social events such as the cocktail reception, they bring opportunities to expand both industry knowledge and the network of international contacts.

Worldwide reach

Although the fair is known worldwide, efforts to reach even more buyers are unrelenting. HKTDC uses all the powerful tools at its disposal which include a network of offices and agents worldwide, and close relationships with trade journals and international media. HKTDC further publicises the fair through direct mailing to its vast database, attention-getting roadshows and participation in industry events in many countries.

As well, buyers and organisations with strong potential are identified in both emerging and established markets and HKTDC is instrumental in bringing such buyers to the fair as organised missions. There were 82 of these buying missions from 55 countries and regions in 2008.

Be in the winner's circle

In most games there are winners and losers. At the Hong Kong Toys & Games Fair there are only winners. Be among them in 2009. Make the decision to book your space today.

Buyers' comments

"Schylling is the classic toy company; we're more into traditional toys and materials. We distribute to 8,800 owner operated independent stores throughout the US and Canada. We have been coming to this fair for 12 to 15 years and already have 150 Hong Kong and Chinese mainland suppliers. This fair is fantastic for us because we can see our suppliers and many of our customers in one place - it is very concentrated. About 50% of our business is a result of this fair."
Dave Schylling, Chief Executive Officer,
Schylling Associates, Inc, US

"Mikkai International is a division of Lals Group and we import toys. Lals Group owns and operates some of the leading malls and retail brands in the Middle East. We also supply Carrefour, Lulu and other major retailers throughout the Middle East. This fair is important to me because there are always a lot of new products. We do a lot of regular business with Hong Kong suppliers, between US$15 million to US$20 million worth of orders each year. We import five to 10 containers of toys from Hong Kong every month so we are looking for all kind of toys."
Johnson Correya, Marketing Manager,
Mikkai International (LLC), UAE

"We sell a wide range of toys and offer comprehensive services, including transportation and after-sales support, to customers in Chile and Peru. This is my third year visiting the fair. These days children look for new and trendy stuff and we are concentrating on innovative items like multi-functional dolls, educational toys and electronic cars. I can see more creative designs from suppliers at the fairground this year. The Hong Kong fair is really getting better and better each year, and attracts a larger number of quality exhibitors and buyers from around the world. It is an absolutely excellent fair."
Rubén Soazo, Director,
Loko Toys Chile, Chile
