Dates:
2 to 4 December 2008
Venue: China International Exhibition Centre (CIEC)

The inter airport China 2008 caters exclusively for the Chinese market. Mack Brooks Exhibitions, in conjunction with our Chinese partners CAAC (the Civil Aviation Administration of China), CASGC (China Aviation Supplies Import and Export Group Corporation) and its subsidiary China Civil Aviation Technology & Equipment Co Ltd (AVITEC), will invite all key personnel in charge of airport projects and end-users in China to visit the exhibition. Invitations will go to airport personnel in all provinces of China. Specialists from, the airport departments of CAAC, tendering agents, design institutes, etc, will also be invited to visit the show.

The last inter airport show in Bejing took place in September 2006. Officially opened by the Vice-Minister of General Administration of the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), Mr Wang Changshun, the event attracted nearly 3,000 industry professionals. While some 90 per cent of these were from China, there were also visitors from Australia, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Vietnam.

Exhibitors totalled 134 from 23 countries, including national groups from Finland, France, Germany, Italy and the UK. Participants expressed high levels of satisfaction in both the business benefits of the event and in its organisation.

Show Director Tom Ho commented: “The exhibition was very well received by companies taking part. Many spoke of the valuable contacts they established and of the excellent business opportunities on offer in the airport market in China. There was also very strong support for running the show again in 2008. Given the continuing development of Chinese airports, but also taking into account the scheduling of inter airport India, we felt it best to allow a slightly longer cycle in respect of inter airport China. The dates at the very beginning of December 2008 are ideal for Chinese visitors.”

Show approval ratings were boosted by a highly successful and well-attended Meet the Buyers programme, during which senior figures from China’s airports sector outlined their development plans to organisations participating in the exhibition.

China to build 42 new airports

There is no let-up in airport development in China. Between 2006 and 2010, investments in airport infrastructure of USD17.4 billion are planned. Over this period the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) plans to construct 42 new airports as the country’s economy continues to grow. This will put more than 70 per cent of the population within 100 km of an airport.

As well as building new airports, China is investing heavily to add capacity at existing facilities – all to keep pace with rising passenger numbers and cargo volumes. In 2005, China’s airports handled 284 million passengers – 17.5 per cent up on the previous year. Cargo volumes also rose by more than 14 per cent and a similar increase was recorded for flight movements.

While the expansion programme at Beijing Capital Airport will have been completed in time to support the city’s role as host to the 2008 Olympic Games, the CAAC has already indicated a need for a second and possibly third airport to handle the 120-150 million annual passengers expected to travel to or from the city by 2020. Their numbers are being swelled both by increasing domestic travel and by rising numbers of overseas visitors to China.

Organised in response to industry requests, inter airport China 2008 will be the third of these events to take place in Beijing. With the organisers’ long-established experience in staging inter airport events globally and the success of previous exhibitions in China, this latest show will again provide companies serving the airport sector with an unparalleled opportunity to present their capabilities in this unique dynamic market.

The last Beijing exhibition in 2006 attracted over 130 exhibitors from 23 countries. High show approval ratings by exhibitors were recorded. The success of the event was boosted by an informative and well attended Meet the Buyers programme, during which senior figures from China’s airports sector outlined their development plans to organisations participating in the exhibition.
