CHINA MARKET

In the wake of global economic integration, the world economy has generally been on the rise for the past few years, with the Asian economic growth being particularly outstanding. Among the Asian economies, the growth of China, India and Vietnam have astonished the world, with their GDPs having grown at the rate of over 8% every year. The GDP of China has grown for over 10% in 2007. Hence, we can see that the Asian non-woven industry is continuing to grow at a high speed.

The total output of nonwovens in the world exceeded 5 millions tons in 2006 and Asia produced over one third of them (or over 1.85 millions tons), topping the world. While the Asian economy is expected to continue to grow at a high speed in the future, the massive population of Asia provides a huge market for nonwovens. With a booming economic growth and ever increasing living standard in China, the demand for nonwovens is also on the rise. Last year, the output of nonwovens produced in China approached 1 million tons and the number of production lines for nonwovens being used in China exceeded 2000. Among the production lines, two third of the equipments (with most of them being imported equipments) needed upgrading or modification. The output of nonwovens in China can hardly satisfy the demand in China and some of the products are still dependent on imports. To cater to the overwhelming demand for stand space, ANEX’09+SINCE’09 will be expanded and held in two separate exhibition areas, the INTEX and Shanghaimart covering a total area of 16,000 square meters, with a special walkway connecting the two exhibition areas. It is hence expected that ANEX’09+SINCE’09 will provide an excellent platform for the display of a wide spectrum of newest products and innovations, equipments, new technologies, materials, services etc designed to help global nonwovens companies to enhance their image, establish new contacts and cooperation as well as finding new businesses. At the same time, it also provide a great opportunity for the gathering of professionals from the nonwovens industry.

SINCE 2007 - an Impressive Success!

The 12th edition of Shanghai International Nonwovens Conference & Exhibition, was held last October 22 - 24,2007 at INTEX Shanghai in China. The show attracted an impressive group of 302 exhibitors from 18 countries occupying two levels, no less than 12,000 sqm of the exhibition space.

The number of international buyers have also increased impressively with a total of 2,334 attendees from 61 countries registered (up from 57 countries last event). Many exhibitors were excited about the audience and the business contacts made. Exhibitors expressed a high level of satisfaction with the turnout of buyers at SINCE 2007. Many were positively surprised about the quality, number and internationality of the buyers attending the show. Numerous promising new contacts as well as orders written during the show or expected for post-show business were reported.

Held in conjunction with the exhibition, the SINCE 2007 Conference was also very well attended. Conference attendees were eager to discover the latest technology in the Nonwovens industry as well as market developments.

The next edition of SINCE will be combined with ANEX 2009 and will be held on 20-22 May 2009 at INTEX Shanghai and the Shanghai Mart.

ANEX is one of the world's three main exhibitions of the Nonwovens industry and it will be held back in Shanghai in 2009. This global event is held annually rotating within INDEX (Europe) and IDEA (North America). It creates great opportunities for global co-operation and provides a place where new products and new innovation can be shared in a most productive way.
