Established in February 1996, Shanghai Arts and Crafts Association (SACA) is a cross-sector, trans-ownership and non-profit industry organization as legal person organized voluntarily by arts and crafts production, trading, research, education, design and service enterprises and institutions in Shanghai.
SACA currently has 180 members of various ownerships including 38 council members.
Since its establishment, SACA has committed itself to the implementation of the Rules for Protection of Shanghai Traditional Arts and Crafts; established Shanghai Appraisal Committee of Traditional Arts And Crafts and the appraisal expert base, and appraised the first collection of elaborate arts and crafts of Shanghai; registered the “certification trademark” for rosewood furniture and products; established the Tourist Souvenirs (Craft Gifts) Committee of SACA, and led the enterprises to build up the “crafts and tourist souvenirs design platform of Shanghai” in response to the guideline of “developing a strongest industry” of Huangpu District Government; started publication of SACA Briefings, the predecessor of Arts And Crafts monthly; and established SACA website and E-mail system.
