Established in Dec. 2002, Shanghai Swine Trade Association (SSTA) is a cross-sector, trans-ownership and non-profit industry organization as legal person organized voluntarily by swine cultivation and processing enterprises and institutions in Shanghai. SSTA currently has 248 members of various ownerships, including swine cultivation, slaughtering and processing, feed, animal healthcare product, animal disease surveillance and other enterprises and institutions which have obvious preponderance and form the core force of the industry. SSTA's mission is to abide by the Constitution, laws and regulations of the state as well as industry policies, comply with the social morality, ensure fair play within the industry, assist the government in industry administration, protect the legal rights and interests of the members, report enterprise expectations and demands, and acts as a bridge between the enterprise and government/society. SSTA publishes Swine Industry Information (semi-monthly) to provide a wide range of information to the swine cultivation and processing enterprises in East China free of charge; organizes members to participate in the national and regional exhibitions, product promotion events, and matchmaking meetings in other provinces; conducts and organizes technical training and experience exchanges; develops and revises industry quality standards and production technology regulations; promotes swine farm standardization and credit system construction, and timely provides industry information via its website.
