Business Overview

Star Gallery’s mission is the propagation and popularization of young Chinese artists’ work. Through exhibitions, publications, and licensing, the gallery does its utmost to create a sustainable platform through which it can grow together with young artists.

Since its establishment in 2005, Star Gallery (星空间) has worked closely with a number of cutting-edge artists, among them Chen Fei, Chen Ke, Gao Yu, Huang Yuxing, Jin Nü, Ou Yangchun, Qiu Jiongjiong, Wang Yifan, Wei Jai, Wen Ling, Wen Chuan, Xu Maomao, and Yan Cong. These artists, it’s generally agreed, represent some of the leading lights of a new wave of 21st Century artists.

Located in Beijing’s 798 art district, Star Gallery’s growing professional team is dedicated to unearthing and exhibiting the latest perspectives and trends in modern Chinese art. Among the large group shows the gallery has staged are “Next Station: Cartoon?”, “Naughty Kids”, and “Looking for me”, shows which seek to explain—from a multitude of different perspectives, and as it actually appears—young artists’ distinct collective culture. In the course of six short years, Star Gallery has held more than 50 exhibitions, and published over 40 books, and worked hand in hand with brands like Nike, Absolut Vodka, Vanke, and China UnionPay, setting new precedents for integrated licensing cooperation between the art and business worlds.

With the growth and maturation of the “post-70s” and “post-80s” generations, Star Gallery, as their discoverer and earliest champion, will undoubtedly see its mission grow in importance as time goes by.
