Qujing City
(qǔ jìng shì 曲靖市) is located in the center of the Yunnan - Guizhou Altiplano (yún guì gāo yuán 云贵高原). It is a very important land route connecting Yunnan Province (yún nán 云南) with other parts of China, and thus has been called "the Gate to Yunnan" and "the Throat of Yunnan". The Wumeng Mountain (wū méng shān 乌蒙山) stretches for hundreds of miles, and is high in the northwest and low in the southeast. The Mountain is the watershed of the two water systems: the Yangtze River (zhǎng jiāng 长江) and the Zhujiang River (zhū jiāng 珠江). Qujing is the second largest city of Yunnan Province, with Kunming ranking the first. It is also an important industrial city of Yunnan.

(dé hóng dǎi zú jǐng pō zú zì zhì zhōu 德宏傣族景颇族自治州), located in the southmost part of Yunnan Province (yún nán shěng 云南省), borders Burma with a boundary line more than 500 kilometers long. Covering an area of only more than 10,000 square kilometers, Dehong boasts featured customs of minorities, colourful culture, long history, and beautiful natural scenery; and therefore, it is famous both at home and abroad, and is called Hometown of Peacocks, Hometown of Legends, and Hometown of Songs and Dances.

Enjoying the reputation of "the big natural greenhouse" and cradle of the Wa people (wǎ zú 佤族), the city of Lincang (lín cāng 临沧) lies in the southwest of Yunnan, 50 kilometers north of the Tropic of Cancer. Lincang, so named because of the Lancang River (lán cāng jiāng 澜沧江) that flows nearby, has a land area of 24, 469 square kilometers. Proud of its gorgeous landscape, lovely climate, colorful cultures and customs of multiple nationalities, Lincang has become a very hot tourist destination in recent year and a most preferred city for studying the folk customs of the Wa people.

It is also an inland port to Southeast Asia and South Asia.

Puer

Puer (pǔ ěr普洱) is a prefecture-level city in southern Yunnan province (yún nán shěng 云南省), People’s Republic of China. The name Puer dates back to 1729, but was changed to Simao (sī máo 思茅) in 1950 after the Communist Revolution. In 2007, the original name of Puer was restored. The urban administrative center of Puer is Simao District, which is also the former name of the city itself. Puer is famous for its Puer tea (pǔ ěr chá 普洱茶). A major downturn in the price of tea in 2007 caused severe economic distress in the area. The price of Puer has since recovered and Pu’er tea still contributes much to the income of the area.
