Sanyou Cave
(sānyóudòng 三游洞) is located 7 kilometers northwest of Yichang (yíchāng 宜昌). It is a giant cave on the north peak of the Xiling Mountain (xīlíngshān 西陵山). It leans against the Three Gorges (sānxiá 三峡) of Yangtze River's Xiling Gorge (xīlíngxiá 西陵峡) and faces to the Xialao Stream (xiàláoxī 下牢溪) where the caves hold marvelous different sight and the scenery is beautiful. It is a famous scenic spot and historical resort and o­ne of the key cultural relic preservation units of Hubei Province.

Jiuwan Stream
(jiǔwǎnxī 九畹溪) is situated at south bank of Xiling Gorge (xīlíngxiá 西陵峡), west of the new county of Zigui (zǐguī 秭归), 20 kilometers away from the Three Gorges Dam (sānxiádàbà 三峡大坝). With the length of 42.3 kilometers, it covers the area of 514.5 square kilometers. The average depth of the Jiuwan Stream is 0.8 meters, and the width of it ranges from 40 to 710 meters. It is sparely populated at the bank of the Jiuwan Stream, and the environment is very pleasant. It was once the place where the great patriotic poet Qu Yuan (qūyuán 屈原) used to give lectures and planted orchid. The Jiuwan Stream Scenic Area is famous for its fancy mountains, clear water, glanderous cliffs, odd stones and famous flowers. It is the top scenic area in Three Gorges Dam which offers exploration, relaxation and sightseeing.

Qingjiang River

      Qingjiang River
With a total length of 425 kilometers, the Qingjiang River (qīngjiāng 清江) winds its way from west to east through Changyang (chángyáng 长阳) for 148 kilometers just like a bright pearl on the middle and lower reaches of Yangtze River. It originates Lichuan (lìchuān 利川), in Hubei Province and joins the Yangtze River in the city of Zhicheng (zhīchéng 枝城), Hubei. The water in the river is so clear that can be taken as a mirror, thus got the name of Qingjiang River. It is regarded as the "mother river of the Tujia ethnic group," the origin of the ancient Ba people (bārén 巴人). It is said that the Qingjiang River is as great as Three Gorges of the Yangtz River, as clear as the Li River (líjiāng 漓江) in Guilin (guìlín 桂林), and as graceful as the Xihu Lake (xīhú 西湖) in Hangzhou (hángzhōu 杭州). The mountains there are lofty and rugged. The water looks dark green, the rocks appear fantastic and the woods are lush and luxuriant. Qingjiang River is cool in summer and warm in winter. The enchanting scenery and rich Tujia ethnic culture have drawn many visitors from home and abroad to this southwest corner of Hubei Province.

East Lake
(dōng hú 东湖), the biggest scenery tourist attraction in Wuhan (wǔ hàn 武汉) and also the largest lake within a city in China, is located on the south bank of the Yangtze River (cháng jiāng 长江) and in the east suburb of Wuchang (wǔ chāng 武昌). It covers an area of 87 square kilometers (33 square kilometers of water area). Because of its winding banks and crisscrossing ponds and brooks, it is called “a lake with 99 bays”. And it gains the reputation of “the lake looks like sea, the sea seems as the lake”. The East Lake Scenic Area was designated by the State Council as one of the first group of key national scenic areas in 1982.

Jiugong Mountain
(jiǔ gōng shān 九宫山) is located in Tongshan (tōng shān 通山), which is a county within a Municipality of Xianning (xián níng 咸宁), along Hubei’s mountainous south-eastern border with Jiangxi (jiāng xī 江西). It extends for hundreds of miles and covers 210 square kilometers. It is named after the nine sons of the Wang’s in Jin’an (jìn'ān 晋安) built nine palaces in the mountain and became one of the five Bodhimandalas (dào chǎng 道场) when the famous Taoist Zhang Daoqing (zhāng dào qìng 张道庆) in Southern Song Dynasty (nán sòng 南宋) opened up a Bodhimandala there. Its nuclear scenery is made up of three parts, Jiugong Mountain Town, forest park (nature reserve) and King Chuang’s Tomb (chuǎng wáng líng 闯王陵). Jiugong Mountain is one of the six national scenic area in Hubei province. It is of the delicate side as southern mountains, but also has the features of northern ridge mountains, such as grand, dangerous, extraordinary, quiet and elegant.
