【释义】比喻受不了或担当不起。
            This phrase means that one would land himself in serious trouble if he enrages someone else.

【例1】这件事你如果说出去,我叫你吃不了兜着走。
           If you let this leak out, I'll make you sorry for it!

【例2】捅了这么大的娄子,这一下可叫他吃不了,兜着走了。
           Since he has made such a big trouble, he will certainly bear all the consequence.

唱对台戏
Stage a rival show.

【发音】chàng duì tái xì

【释义】过去,两个戏班子为了抢生意,有时候会在同一时间上演同样的戏,称为唱对台戏。比喻采取与对方相对的行动,来反对或搞垮对方。
            In the past, in order to gain a good position in business, two drama companies would put on the same play in the same time. Now this phrase has the meaning that one acts like the opposite side to combat or break it down.

【例1】 他们和我们唱对台戏。
            They challenge us with opposing views.

【例2】 吉姆准备参加竞选总统,埃里克也参加,这两个好友现在唱起了对台戏。
             James is running for presidency, so is Eric. Now these two good friends have entered in rivalry.

            Be unwilling to accept someone’s authority or advantage; not go for it.

           The masses won’t go for bureaucracy.

【例2】房子降价了,可消费者还是不买账。
           Though the house price has fallen down, customers still won’t go for it.

【释义】1. 言语行动不合常理。
                Words and deeds are repugnant to common sense. 
            2. (某种不好的情况)过分。
                 It is a shame to excessively do something bad.

【例1】要你们自己掏钱就不像话了。
           It would be unreasonable for you to pay out of your own pockets.

【例2】欺骗那女孩,真是不像话!
           What a shame to deceive the girl!
