      Kangxi Grassland
Kangxi Grassland (kāng xī cǎo yuán 康西草原) is located at the west of the Badaling Great Wall (bā dá lǐng cháng chéng 八达岭长城), Yanqing County (yán qìng xiàn 延庆县), Beijing (běi jīng 北京). It covers the area of 32,000 mu (mǔ 亩), and is regarded as the largest grassland in Beijing. At the west side of Kangxi Grassland, there is the Guanting Reservoir (guān tīng shuǐ kù 官厅水库) and Haituo Mountain (hǎi tuó shān 海坨山) at the north side. The green grassland, running horses, white Mongolian yurts (méng gǔ bāo 蒙古包), larkish cows and goats has added some unique Mongolian characteristics to Kangxi Grassland.

Situated three kilometers north of the Summer Palace in Hai Dian District (hǎi diàn qū 海淀区), Bai Wang Shan Forest Park (bǎi wàng shān sēn lín gōng yuán 百望山森林公园) is the nearest forest parkland to Beijing. Covering an area of 167 hectares, the park is covered by arbors and shrubs, and has clean fresh air. The peak altitude is 210 meters, upright. Ascend to the peak, looking down the earth from a distance, there is magnificent scenery. It is worth ascending and visiting. It has lush forest, vegetation coverage rate reaches as high as 95 percent, and negative oxygen ions is rich in air, known as the oxygen source of Beijing.

The China Millennium Monument

The China Millennium Monument (zhōng huá shì jì tán 中华世纪坛) was constructed to welcome the new millennium, the year 2000. It stands along a north-south axis between the Military Museum (jūn shì bó wù guǎn 军事博物馆) and the Central Television Complex (zhōng yāng diàn shì tái jiàn zhù qún 中央电视台建筑群), with the scenic Yuyuantan Park (yù yuān tán gōng yuán 玉渊潭公园) to the north and the West Beijing Railway Terminus (běi jīng xī kè zhàn 北京西客站) to the south, occupying an area of 4.5 hectares and a total floor space of about 42,000 square meters.

Located on the east side of Tian’an Men Square (tiān’ān mén guǎng chǎng 天安门广场), National Museum of China (zhōng guó guó jiā bó wù guǎn 中国国家博物馆) is the largest comprehensive history museum in China. It covers the area of 69000 square meters, with the length of 313 meters and the width of 149 meters. The predecessors of the National Museum are the Museum of Chinese History (zhōng guó lì shǐ bó wù guǎn 中国历史博物馆) and the Museum of Chinese Revolution (zhōng guó gé mìng bó wù guǎn 中国革命博物馆), which shared the same building complex and divided by the central hall.

Located at the foot of the southern slope of the highest peak of Tianshou Mountain, the Changling Tomb (cháng líng 长陵) is the place where the third emperor of the Ming Dynasty (míng cháo 明朝) (1368—1644), Zhu Di (zhū dì 朱棣) and Empress Xu were buried together. He ruled China from 1402 to 1422. Zhu Di was the Emperor who built the Forbideen City (zǐ jìn chéng 紫禁城), commissioned the Great Dictionary of Yongle (yǒng lè dà diǎn 永乐大典) and sent the eunuch Admiral Cheng He to South-East Asia, Ceylon, India, Africa and the Arabian Peninsula.
