Garst, this lovely foreigner who posed a very Chinese style gesture while I and my classmate took photo for him, refused us at the very beginning when we asked him to do an interview by pointing to his dormitory hurriedly and saying he was going home.

He said he came from afar, USA, just because he likes China. His first stop was not Beijing, but Henan, which means "the south of the river" and sounds very beautiful. Henan's undeveloped living condition of that moment, however, disappointed him and urged him to have a try in Beijing. It has been a year and 9 months since he left his hometown in August, 2005.

Chinese Dish Names Puzzle Foreigners

Many foreigners complain that they are often puzzled and even startled by the menu when they dine in Chinese restaurants, saying the awful translations of the names of the dishes often give them no small culture shock.

我作为一个日本人，28岁的时候单身来到中国。日本与中国有着深远的历史往来，我来到中国以后感到最伤心的是中国人有很强的反日情绪。第一次感觉到是在2001年，三年之前的第一次到南京短期留学，让我决定长期留学。回国之前，我的美国朋友为我开了一个送别会。在会上，有一个美国人，二个德国人，三个中国学生，还有我。

我来到了中国

这是我第一次去中国长期留学，我打算坐船去。尽管坐飞机快，而且可免费（因为我是空姐），但我很想坐船去，因为我实现了去中国长期留学的梦想，在船上可以慢慢的品尝离家出远门的滋味（在飞机上是感觉不到的）和实现理想的快乐。一直想念的中国留学，坐船旅行让我悠然自得。因为成为空姐以来工作一直很忙，对我来说得到这个中国留学的机会是很不容易的事。我常常飞到中国，当天回来，虽然飞行时间很短，大概往返五个小时，但是早上五点起床要上班，晚上九点才下班，学习时间也很少。
