.Dragon Pavilion Park Overview















As the main scenic site of Kaifeng (kāi fēng 开封), Henan (hé nán 河南), Dragon Pavilion Park (lóng tíng gōng yuán 龙亭公园) totals more than 80 hectares, half of which is water area. The park consists primarily of two lakes - Family Pan Lake (yáng jiā hú 杨家湖) and Family Yang Lake (pān jiā hú 潘家湖). For some strange reason, the Family Pan Lake is muddy while the latter is clear, which people have likened to the characters of two officials who served during the Northern Song (AD 960-1127) Dynasty: Pan Renmei, a treacherous official; and Yang Jiye, an honest one.

Located 13km (8 miles) south of the city center, along the banks of the Yi River (yī hé 伊河) which divides Mount Xiang (xiāng shān 香山) to the east from Mount Longmen (lóng mén shān 龙门山) to the west, Longmen Caves (lóng mén shí kū 龙门石窟) are considered one of the three great sculptural treasure-troves in China. In general, the limestone is harder at Longmen than at Yungang (yún gāng 云冈), and the caves closer to the river, making it easier to discern the details but more difficult to see the caves as a whole.

Zhengzhou Yellow River Scenic Area
(zhèng zhōu huáng hé fēng jǐng míng shèng qū 郑州黄河风景名胜区) is a National 4A Class tour region. It is located 20 kilometers northwest of Zhengzhou City (zhèng zhōu shì 郑州市), in Henan Province (hé nán shěng 河南省). The area is 7 kilometers from east to west and 6 kilometers from south to north. It is at the end of Loess Plateau (huáng tǔ gāo yuán 黄土高原) and the beginning of Huabei Plain (huá běi píng yuán 华北平原). Tourists can see the powerful Yellow River as it passes.

Located south of the Yellow River in northwest Henan Province (hé nán shěng 河南省), 63 kilometres (40 miles) southwest of Zhengzhou (zhèng zhōu 郑州), 87 kilometres (53 miles) southeast of Luoyang (luò yáng 洛阳), Song Shan (sōng shān 嵩山) is the central mountain of the five holy Taoist mountains. Today, it's better known as the home of the Shaolin Temple (shào lín sì 少林寺), birthplace of the eponymous brand of Shaolin kung-fu (shào lín gōng fū 少林功夫; martial art) that has long been popular in Asia but has only in recent years become increasingly known to the Western world.

Located in central Henan Province (hé nán shěng 河南省) , just 9 kilometres (6 miles) south of the Yellow River (huáng hé 黄河), Kaifeng (kāi fēng 开封) has a history lasting more than 2,700 years as the capital of seven dynasties. It is called "Metropolis of Seven Dynasties". As early as in Northern Song Dynasty, Kaifeng has been the political, economic and cultural center of China. It was also one of the most developed and prosperous cities at that time, known as "International Metropolis".
