拉下水
Drag sb. through the mire
【注音】lā xià shuǐ
【解释】引诱某人做坏事或犯错误。
Lure or drag sb. into the mire or wrong doings.
【例子】
例：考上戏剧学院以后，大家都以为小丁前途远大，没想到他会被一帮吸毒的拉下水，成了瘾君子。

Ex.：After he entered the Drama College, we all think Xiao Ding has a promising future. It’s out of everyone’s expectation that he was seduced by some drug addicts and became one of them.

烂摊子
Shambles

【解释】无法收拾的局面，难以整顿的工作。
An awful mess to clear up, usually left by one’s predecessor.
【例子】
例：旧老板屁股一拍走了，留下这么一个烂摊子，谁也没有什么好办法。

Ex.：The old boss left such a mess behind, nobody has a good way to clear it up.
