Jiamusi (jiā mù sī 佳木斯) is a prefecture-level city in the province of Heilongjiang (hēi lóng jiāng 黑龙江), in the People's Republic of China. Jiamusi is located on the riverside of the middle and lower reaches of the Songhua River (sōng huā jiāng 松花江). It is the city where the sun rises earliest in China. Jiamusi has 32,700 square kilometers with a population of 2,450,000. In 2007 Jiamusi had a GDP of RMB 34.1 billion with a 14.3% growth rate.

 

 

Historical records list Jiamusi as an ancient bridle road of the Songhua River, leading to the Heilong River estuary. It was once inhabited by the Sushen (sù shèn 肃慎) ethnic group, ancestors of the present Manchu group. There's no exact record of the origin of Jiamusi. It wasn't until the Twentieth Century that Jiamusi became the active town that it is now. And, now, there are 5 districts, 4 counties and 2 county-level cities as the administrative divisions in Jiamusi.

  

 

Jiamusi has a continental monsoon climate with an annual average temperature of 3 degree centigrade (37.4 degree Fahrenheit). The temperature elevates gradually leading up to the summer months, and gradually decrease after. Temperatures typically peak in July. It has a lot of sunshine and plenty rainfall in summer, with a lot of wind resource in spring and autumn, and snowy and cold in winter.

Daliangzi River National Forest Park (dà liàng zǐ hé guó jiā sēn lín gōng yuán 大亮子河国家森林公园)

Daliangzi River National Forest Park is located the south of the eastern province Tangyuan County (tāng yuán xiàn 汤原县) within a total area of 7171 hectares, was founded in 1987. It is the construction of the first National Park Forest Parks in China. The main body of park is red pine original forest, and the park is a natural ecological landscape zone with stones, rivers, zoological and botanical sights, taking on the character of sight through grand ancient tree, vast forest, clean water, colorful scenery in four seasons and the charming natural scenery. It includes many perfect area: Daliangzi River Rafting (dà liàng zǐ hé piāo liú 大亮子河漂流), Giant Tree Island (jù shù dǎo 巨树岛), Yuanhai Temple (yuàn hǎi sì 愿海寺) and so on.

Transportation: take bus to Tangyuan County at Jiamusi bus station (jiā mù sī qì chē zhàn 佳木斯汽车站), and then there are special tour buses to the scenic area at Tangyuan County.

Wusu Town (wū sū zhèn 乌苏镇)

Wusu Town is located in Fuyuan County (fǔ yuǎn xiàn 抚远县), which it is the smallest town in the world. In fact, this town, only one male inhabitants of the original. Later, a girl came to here and married with him before they make here with the only family. There is the town's only street, 10 meters long, is composed of six plants. It is China's land territory, the most eastern end of the Chinese mainland to see the sun every day the first place, is also rising in China every day, the first local five-star red flag, so called "the first town of the Orient." More than 360 days a year here, the flag-raising schedule, according to the daily flag-raising ceremony in Tiananmen Square than the earlier one hour 48 minutes enacted. The summer solstice day of the flag-raising time is 2:15 GMT. As well as it is the largest fishing ground for salmon, and autumn is the catching season for dog salmon in the Wusuli River (wū sū lǐ hé 乌苏里河).

Tongjiang Jiejinkou The Heche Tourist Area (tóng jiāng jiē jīn kǒu hè zhé zú lǚ yóu dù jiǎ qū 同江街津口赫哲族旅游度假区)

The Hezhe (hè zhé 赫哲)Tourist Zone of Jiejinkou (jiē jīn kǒu 街津口) lies in the Territory of Tongjiang City (tóng jiāng shì 同江市), which is in the right bank of the Heilong River, 45 kilometers from the northeast of the downtown area of Tongjiang. Here are picturesque and splendid sceneries, particular natural, humanism and historical tourist resources here. It is a place where Hezhe people live in concentrated communities; visitors can walk into the houses of local people and appreciate the special customs of the life of fishing of Hezhe people.

Sanjiang Plain Marshlang (sān jiāng píng yuán shī dì 三江平原湿地)

Sanjiang Plain Marshlang is ranked "One of Top Most Beautiful Grasslands in China" by China National Geography Magazine. It is located in Fuyuan County (fǔ yuǎn xiàn 抚远县), Tongjiang City. The plain came into being because of the allusion of the Songhua, Heilong and Wusuli rivers. It has an elevation of only about 35 to 70 meters. Its total wetland area is kept at about 1.04 million hectares. The plain is thickly strewn with wetlands of various types, which undulate gently, and present richly of the marshlands of northern China. The Sanjiang Plain Marshland is blessed with rich biological diversity, as it is home to 291 kinds of vertebrate animals and almost 500 species of higher plants.

It is a kind of local food of Hezhe ethnic minority. It means to roast the fish till it becomes bits to eat.

 

Take the carp’s thick meat, cut into thread, and then to immerse with rice vinegar. Wait the meat to turn the white, and then mix the coriander and garlic to stew for some minutes.

 

Put the chicken in a bow and mix the prickly ash and cooking wine to pickle 10 minutes. And fry with flour.

 

 

Jiamusi has opened to Beijing (běi jīng 北京), Harbin (hā ěr bīn 哈尔滨), Russia etc domestic and international air routs. The large airport is under construction now. and there are 4 main railway lines in Jiamysi, including Harbin to Jiamusi, Jiamusi to Mudanjiang (mǔ dān jiāng 牡丹江), Jiamusi to Hegang (hè gǎng 鹤岗), and Jiamusi and Fujin (fù jǐn 富锦), which can easily reached to everywhere of China.
