Dinosaur Museum (kǒng lóng bó wù guǎn 恐龙博物馆)is located in the northeastern Zigong City (zì gòng shì 自贡市) of Sichuan Province (sì chuān shěng 四川省). It is 9 kilometers away from the city center. The museum is the first professional museum in China, and it is as famous as the National Dinosaur Museum in America and the Canadian Dinosaur Museum. It is elected as the best Dinosaur Museum in the world by the Geography Magazine.

Zigong City is an important region of the dinosaur fossil in China. As the famous saying goes, one finds a veritable nest of dinosaur at Zigong. There are more than forty locations within the city at which dinosaur fossils from different eras have been found. A very considerable amount of fossilized dinosaurs has been excavated here and other vertebrate fossils have been found as well at the same sites.

The Dinosaur Museum covers an area of more than 66000 square meters, in which the exhibitions hall takes 3600 square meters. In the museum, there are large quantities of dinosaur fossils on exhibition, nearly including all the known species in the era that is 2.05 million years to 1.35 million years before. You can see the fossiles of various dinosaur species distributing in the sandstones, which is the epitome of the large tomb of dinosaur. What’s more, there is the reversion of Emei Dinosaur (é méi lóng 峨眉龙), which is about 10 meters high. Together with the light, and the multimedia, the museum reproduces the Jurassic Era.
