altCIOF 2007, the 20 th China International Optics Fair, had been successfully concluded at the China International Exhibition Centre on September 18-20, 2007 . The fair was organized by the China Optometric & Optical Association (COOA) and co-organized by Orient International Exhibition Co., Ltd. of Hong Kong . It was endorsed by the Ministry of Commerce, P. R. China, supported by the China National Light Industry Council and sponsored by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and Hong Kong Optical Manufacturers Association.

The year 2007 witnessed the 20 th edition of the China International Optics Fair. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Madam XU Yunyuan, Chairman of the China Optometric & Optical Association, said that the CIOF has seen great development in the extent of maturity, professionalism and exhibition scale. In fact, the year 2007 is a fruitful year to CIOF. It has been awarded the titles of “One of the Ten Brand Exhibitions of The Light Industry in China” and “The Best Organizer” by the China National Light Industry Council this year, the best evidence that the CIOF is an international indispensable optical event that not-to-be-missed.

Response of participation was overwhelming than ever – the exhibition space were fully reserved soon after the recruitment campaign was launched. Apart from the Halls 1, 5, 6, 7 & 9 of the China International Exhibition Centre, the Organizer rented conference rooms and banquet halls of the nearby hotels, namely CTS Hotel Beijing and Radisson SAS Hotel, making the total exhibition space reach a record high of 42,000 m2, a 5% growth compared to last year.

There were 770 domestic and international companies, including principals and agents, from 20 countries and regions exhibiting at the CIOF 2007, showing their latest and trendiest optical products to the extensive buyers. Exhibits are wide-ranging from s pectacle frames, sunglasses, lenses, contact lens, visual test equipment, production m achinery & materials, store and workshop fittings and furniture, raw materials for frames and lenses, low vision alttesting and adjusting equipment, instruments for optometry and ophthalmology, technical & scientific publications and services, associations & exhibitions, etc . Over 243 hot international optical brands at the international pavilion were on display, attracting 49,000 times of trade visitors from 75 countries and regions.

Overseas pavilions featuring delegations by SILMO Exhibition of France, grouping a dozen of renowned spectacle frames manufacturers to the Fair. Hong Kong Optical Manufacturers Association (HKOMA) has shown the representing designs selected from their members. CIOF has been recognized as the largest optical exhibition in Asia in terms of exhibition area, number of exhibitors and visitors.

altIn the recent years, China's optical market is growing rapidly. According to the figures of the Chinese Customs, the total export value of China's optical products in the first half of 2007 reached USD 931 million, a 26.6% increase comparing with the same period of last year. The total import amount of optical products reached USD 94 million, an increase of 18.7%.

CIOF 2007 brought fruitful results to exhibitors. According to our on-site surveys, 70% of exhibitors will join again next year.

Optical Industry & Exhibitions of China

THE INTERNATIONAL OPTICAL EXHIBITIONS FOR CHINA
China International Optics Fair (CIOF) and China (Shanghai) International Optics Fair (SIOF, the spring session of the CIOF), are the two annual optical shows in China enjoying official endorsement and support. In China, official approval and sponsorship mean half a ticket to success. The shows are equipped with the right credentials:

altThey are approved by the Ministry of Commerce and sponsored by the China National Light Industry Council (the former Ministry of Light Industry). The latter is the authorised body supervising the light industry of the country. Optics is one of it.

They are organized by the China Optometry & Optical Association (COOA), the body that governs the optical industry of China, and the China Light Industrial Corp. for Foreign Economic & Technical Cooperation (CLETC), the state-owned enterprise running intrnational trade in China.

They are co-organized by Orient International Exhibition Co., Ltd. of Hong Kong, the same altteam of professionals who mastermind the formation of the exhibition since its inauguration.
